With a focus on genres such as Afrobeats, Afropop, fusion and electronic, Firstcall Music Entertainment is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in music production.
Founded by Ekpoma, Edo State-born Samson Ogbeide, the re-launched label aims at discovering and nurturing new talents, while also providing a platform for established artistes to explore new sounds.
According to Ogbeide, the label’s mission is to create a space where artistes can express themselves freely, without the constraints of commercial pressures.
“We want to bring back the soul of Afro music. We believe that music should be more than making a quick buck. It should be about creating something that resonates with people on a deeper level,” he noted.
Since its re-launch, Firstcall has signed several promising artistes including singer-songwriter, Le’Beau born Yakubu Sylvin Yakubu on Sept 7, 2004 in Kaduna.
Signed to the label in 2022, Le’Beau has two singles to his credit including Jaye Jaye (2022), and My Brother (2023). Also signed to Firstcall is Solomon Moses Ayomide aka Modex-Boy whose first single will be released this August.
With a slate of exciting releases planned for this month, Firstcall is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene. “We are not just a record label, we’re a community of artistes and music lovers who are passionate about creating something new and exciting. We can’t wait to share our vision with the world,” Ogbeide said excitedly.
