Aideyan Gabriel Osuyi popularly known as Gbriel has inspired many with his faith and passion for music. His transformation from a young choirboy into a rising gospel music star is incredibly meteoric.
Born into a family deeply involved in ministry, Gbriel’s musical journey began under the nurturing influence of his mother, who was active in missionary work.
Growing up in this spiritually vibrant environment, Gbriel and his sister often performed at church events, whether intimate gatherings or larger, more formal services. These early performances instilled in him a deep love for music and worship, forming the bedrock of his eventual career in gospel music.
Taking his musical journey a step further, Gbriel learned to play instruments and soon joined the church choir. These formative experiences helped him discover his musical gifts and shaped the foundation for his unique sound, which is inspired by some of gospel’s most celebrated artistes, including Sonnie Badu, Sinach and his mentor, Buchi.
However, it was his close friend, Sunny Praise, who pushed Gbriel to take his music seriously, encouraging him to record his first song in a studio – a milestone moment that marked the beginning of his professional journey.
Today, Gbriel’s music is known for its vibrant energy and heartfelt passion. He describes his performances as offerings to God, aiming to bring more than entertainment – but a deep spiritual connection to his listeners.
“When I sing, I’m offering my best sacrifice of praise,” Gbriel shares.
One of his most impactful moments came when a woman approached him after a service, sharing how his music had lifted her spirit and brightened her day. For Gbriel, it’s moments like this that fuel his desire to continue his ministry through music.
As a songwriter, Gbriel’s creative process is deeply emotional and often spontaneous. “Sometimes, when I’m feeling hurt, I just start singing. Other times, I’m playing the piano and inspiration hits,” he explains. Through his songs, Gbriel seeks to remind his listeners of the hope found in Christ, emphasizing that with God, victory is assured.
Throughout his career, Gbriel has served as a music director for various churches worldwide and currently serves as an associate pastor at Word Demonstration Power Church. Among his many memorable performances, one stands out: a worship session at Omega Fire Church in Germany, an atmosphere he described as “charged with the presence of God.”
Beyond music and ministry, Gbriel juggles his responsibilities as a health professional, husband, and father of two. Despite his growing music career, he remains committed to his local church community and is preparing to release new music that fuses gospel with Afrobeats and hip-hop influences.
