The Beatz Awards, a reward platform that celebrates the unsung heroes behind the global Afrobeats phenomenon, is set to empower Nigerian youth.

According to the Beatz Awards’ CEO/Vision Officer, Elijah John, in commemoration of its 9th edition, a good number of young Nigerians would be provided with the required tools to make headway in the entertainment industry.

“One of the things we are trying to achieve this year is to empower the younger generation to understand what is required to make headway in the music and entertainment industry. We intend to provide the knowledge and know-how of the business side of music. We also intend to provide legal guidance for youths who are eager to operate in that space which is one of the things we hope to achieve this year,” he said.

Toward this end, the ‘Beat to Banger’ project has been initiated and registration is ongoing to equip the younger generation with the tools needed in terms of understanding music production and business side of entertainment.

The initiative, which is in collaboration with the office of the Special Assistant to the President on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, will be unveiled on November 16, 2024.

Since its inception, The Beatz Awards has grown to become a respected platform. “Over the years, we have celebrated countless talents who have gone on to achieve global recognition. When we started, there was no recognition for Nigerian music producers, but now some of our producers are receiving Grammy Award nominations, which is a testament to the fact that what they are doing is globally accepted and recognised,” John stated.

Meanwhile, this year’s edition of The Beatz Awards will feature new categories like Afro Soul Producer of the Year and Afro Dancehall Producer of the Year.
