With his latest album, Grandeza, which means greatness in Spanish, fast rising artist, Christian Edeh Michael aka Boombeatz, has made an artistry statement of greatness.
The Ebonyi State-born but Lagos-bred producer, songwriter and sound engineer recently hosted some bigwigs in the music industry to the listening party of the album.
Grandeza is coming after This Is Boombeatz and More Life released respectively in 2019 and 2022. His EPs like Zeal came in 2023 while Sugar Mummy dropped in 2024.
Boombeatz’ songs like Akanchawa, which featured Rex and Dr Spicey, and his other collaborations with Jaywon, Seriki, Dbanj and Timaya have further entrenched his versatility as a musician of repute.
Known for genres like Afrobeats, Dance/Electronic and Afro-pop genres, Boombeatz’ new album, Grandeza is his first since signing a two-year management deal with CBC Marketing and Management Company, a Norwegian outfit he came across during his last tour of Europe. The latest album contains several melodious tracks including All Blessings, Rockstar, Dem Dey Hate ft. Magnito, Money, Osusu, Chinasa, Mummy, Ocean ft. Dr Spice, and Nobody.
According to Boombeatz’ management, “Grandeza is a work to consolidate his growing influence in Europe, and tracks like Je Viens d’Afrique, which means ‘I come from Africa’, is to introduce him to the French-speaking music enthusiasts.”
