Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems, has recorded another historic feat having become the first African female artiste to garner seven entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 2022, Tems became the first African artiste to debut at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Wait For U, a collabo with Future and Drake.

Since then, the crooner has maintained a strong international presence, earning Grammy recognition, global collaborations and consistent chart success.

Nevertheless, Tems’ new milestone was achieved after her song, What You Need debuted at No. 93 on the chart, bringing her total number of appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 to seven.

With the feat, Tems now joins Burna Boy and South African rock band, Seether as the African artistes with the most entries on the prestigious chart.

Industry watchers, however, believe Tems may soon hit the top of the chart, as Bunce Road Blues, her collaboration with J. Cole and Future, is projected to peak the Billboard Hot 100 in the coming week, making her the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the chart.
