Following a series of controversial incidents during his ‘No Sign Of Weakness’ tour in the United States, Afrobeats singer, Burna Boy, is facing serious backlash, leading to the cancelation of some of his shows.

For Burna Boy, trouble reared its ugly head on November 12 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, when he suddenly halted his performance mid-show to confront a female fan that was sleeping in the front row.

Having spotted the sleeping fan, later identified as Chaltu Jateny, Burna Boy asked for her removal from the show, an act that sparked immediate criticism, with many calling his behaviour arrogant, rude and disrespectful.

In a post on X, Jateny explained that she had just lost her daughter’s father and had attended the concert to escape grief, adding that she had spent her own money on the ticket.

“I have been mentally, physically, and emotionally drained… I came to his show to put a smile on my face,” she wrote.

Since the controversial incident, however, Burna’s shows have recorded low attendance, with fans shunning tickets, leading to low sales and empty halls.

During one of the concerts, footage captured a woman sleeping peacefully while Burna Boy performed, reigniting discussions about his attitude towards fans.

Rather than douse tension, his online remarks where he said, “Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money,” might have further pushed the fans away.

Now, the Last Last crooner could be facing a serious challenge, as two shows scheduled for Friday, November 28 and Monday, December 1 have been officially canceled.
