It was an unforgettable night at Voda Beach in Lagos, as Africa’s leading youth and pop culture platform, MTV Base held its much anticipated Base Day.
The event, which marked the beginning of a vibrant three-city tour celebrating 20 years of MTV Base championing African music and culture on the global stage, gathered music lovers across Lagos for a memorable day of performances and immersive entertainment.
The event featured performances from artists like Faze, Bigiano, Ayo Maff, Ayanfe, Rybeena, and Omizzy, who delivered a seamless blend of nostalgia and contemporary vibes.
As the sun set, the celebration continued with back-to-back vibes from some of Africa’s finest DJs including Picasso, DJ Spin, DJ Dtunes and DJ Venomm – keeping the crowd dancing late into the night with genre-spanning hits and timeless anthems. The curated lineup reflected MTV Base’s commitment to showcasing the best African talent while connecting with a new generation of fans.
Speaking at the event, Busola Komolafe, Senior Channels Manager, Paramount Africa, said, “MTV Base has been a catalyst of the African cultural phenomenon that we are witnessing today globally, and this event was a celebration to honour 20 years of MTV Base’s impact on African music and culture. We are grateful to everyone who came out to be part of it. But the celebration doesn’t stop here – we are heading to Calabar and Abuja, and we can’t wait to create more unforgettable experiences with our community.”
In true MTV Base fashion, the event extended beyond music. Attendees explored curated areas celebrating contemporary African culture through fashion, food and art. The Base Day 2025 tour continues in Calabar at the Hogis Royale Car Park.
