A talent hunt organised by Gold Strings Productions, Quest for a Star, is set to discover and empower new music stars, especially those from the ghetto who have long awaited their chance to be seen and heard.

According to the show organiser, Bright Odede John aka BOJ, “The concept behind the Quest for a Star is straightforward yet powerful. Thousands of music artistes struggle daily to gain recognition and this show was created to bridge that gap. Open to any talented musician, the competition begins with artistes registering and uploading their freestyle videos to Facebook,” he said.

From there, the public gets involved, voting for their favourite performances. The 10 artistes who receive the highest likes and comments move on to the semifinals, where a panel of judges selects the top five. This transparent process ensures fairness, as the initial selection is visible to everyone on social media.

For the semifinalists, the real challenge begins. Judges will evaluate their performances based on several criteria, including stagecraft, vocal ability, originality, and audience reactions. These factors are crucial in determining who has what it takes to succeed in the highly competitive music industry. Winners of the competition stand to gain significantly. The first prize is a recording deal worth N5 million while the second prize is N2 million.

Looking ahead, the organisers envision Quest for a Star becoming an annual event, each year producing at least two new music artistes. Balancing the entertainment aspect with providing genuine opportunities for emerging artists is another key element of the show.

The show promises a captivating experience, not only from the performances of the contestants, but also from special guest artistes like Flekta Man, Sample Ekwe, Marvelous Benji, Damian and Desmond Boj, Fireman King Songo, and Prince Ogaga. However, the focus remains firmly on the contestants, giving them the chance to shine and prove their mettle.

Quest for a Star is more than just a talent hunt; it is a beacon of hope for countless aspiring musicians not only in Nigeria but also Africa. Through its fair and transparent selection process, substantial rewards and commitment to safety and wellbeing, the show is set to make a lasting impact on the music industry,” BOJ noted.
