 The immediate past Director-General, National Council For Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has emerged the Icon of Crafts, Culture and Hospitality in Africa.

He was honoured with the prestigious award during the 2nd World Crafts Forum held in Kuwait from February 1- 3, 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of arts, culture and creative economy,

With the theme: ‘Craft In The Creative Economy’, the event brought together international crafts leaders, artisans and policymakers to discuss sustainability, heritage and resilience in modern society.

While presenting Runsewe with a commemorative plaque, a symbolic acknowledgement of his role in promoting craft, culture and hospitality, the Council commended him for his unwavering commitment to preserving, promoting and sustaining handicrafts, as well as empowering crafts communities across the globe.

According to the award letter signed by President of the Council AISBL, Sa’ad al-Qaddumi, Runsewe’s “dedication to arts and handicrafts aligns strongly with the World Craft Council’s mission and objectives.”
