South African singer, Tyla, clinched the Best Afrobeats award for her smash hit, Push 2 Start at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards held on Sunday, September 7 at the UBS Arena in New York.
The ceremony also saw Lady Gaga dominate the night with four awards – the highest of the evening, followed by Ariana Grande, Video of the Year winner, and Sabrina Carpenter with three wins each.
The 2025 VMAs is produced by Gunpowder & Sky. Bruce Gillmer, Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic, and Barb Bialkowski are executive producers. Alicia Portugal is co-executive producer. Jackie Barba is executive in charge of production. Wendy Plaut is executive in charge of celebrity talent. Lisa Lauricella is executive in charge of music talent.
