Music jammed culture as Kanwulia’s Amerikana Who’s That Girl? Lagos Tour came to a thrilling climax at the prestigious Lagos International Jazz Festival 2024 Showcase.
The event, which held at Live Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos, was a testament to the power of music to unite and inspire, showcasing the essence of musical excellence and cultural celebration.
Spanning close to two weeks, Kanwulia’s tour was a whirlwind of activity, captivating audiences across Lagos with her dynamic performances and infectious energy.
From the media meet and greet at The Rhodes BBQ in Alausa, Ikeja where she was presented with her Work License Card by iconic female drummer and PMAN Lagos Governor, Aralola Olamuyiwa aka Ara, to the mesmerizing jazz vibes of Scotch Bonnet Jazz, and the waterfront ambiance of The Bay Lounge Lekki, Kanwulia’s presence resonated at every stop.
Highlights of the tour included an engaging appearance at Umutu Jazz Immersion Show, a tribute appearance at Freedom Park in memory of the legendary arts and culture aficionado, Jimi Solanke, and intimate meet and greet with fans and friends alike, including a special rendezvous with WiseTola at Silk Lounge, and Namaste Easter show with DJ Humility and Indian DJs.
Kanwulia also took time to connect with music industry stalwarts during a visit to the Nigerian Music House, Lekki where she met with Pretty Okafor, the PMAN President, and Collins Enebeli aka Mavin Grandpa and father to ace producer, Don Jazzy.
At the Lagos International Jazz Festival (LIJF) showcase, which served as the grand finale of the tour, Kanwulia took center stage as the event headliner, delivering an energetic performance that stole the hearts of the audience.
Accompanied by the talented members of 10Strings All Stars Band, which included Ire, Akan, Chiamaka and Allesandra from Panama, as well as Inioluwa, Champion and Prince Charles; the audience was treated to a night of musical virtuosity and passion.
Additionally, guest acts such as KueBounce, Junaid Amin, Kofo, Damjek, TyStrings and others left an indelible mark on the night’s festivities, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
Special appearances by world music/old skool DJ Jimbo, who recently celebrated his 60th birthday, with the Jazzahead Bremen Germany-bound AFRO4 super band adding to the excitement of the evening.
Packaged by the visionary minds at Inspiro Productions with support from the dynamic Volkano Productions’ crew, the tour and its LIJF 2024 Showcase grand finale served as a testament to the transformative power of music, and enduring impact of Kanwulia’s musical genius.
