A one-day online training programme for African Christian filmmakers will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Tagged: MediaSphere Africa and facilitated by the International Christian Visual Media (ICVM), the one-day virtual event is designed to equip African Christian filmmakers with hands-on training on film and television production, offer practical guide on AI and technology in filmmaking, distribution strategies, and also provide them with networking opportunities.
Participants will learn from global Christian filmmakers and industry experts – all from the comfort of their homes. The speakers are Damillola Mike Bamiloye, Kunle Falodun, Paul Sirmons, Rex Nwakamma, Chim Onyebilanma, Matrid Nyagah, and Ewomaoghene Luther-Abegunde. Others include Felix Bankole, Chim Onyebilanma, Bright Wonder, Moses Babatope, Stephen Kendrick, Brian Kelley, and John Oguntuase.

In a related development, Kingdom Film Festival has teamed up with renowned filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi of BlackBox and Zuri Media to conduct 1-day workshop on Visual Storytelling: Seeing, Framing, and Meaning in the Moving Image.
The course is targeted at emerging and mid-level filmmakers, documentary storytellers, cinematographers and camera operators, content creators, digital storytellers, and visual artists.
According to Odugbemi, a respected filmmaker, storyteller and media professional with decades of experience in documentary, television and narrative film, the in-person and interactive workshop will offer participants an immersive and practical learning experience that equips them with essential visual tools for powerful storytelling.
While no advanced technical equipment is required, emphasis will be on visual thinking rather than gear, he stated.
Founder of Kingdom Film Festival and GetInspired Network, Ewomaoghene Luther-Abegunde, said the course would strengthen participants ability to think visually and move beyond recording images towards crafting meaning through deliberate visual choices.
She added: Through facilitation and hands-on engagement, the workshop will strengthen the creative foundations necessary for impactful visual narratives. It will blend theory, film references, and practical visual analysis to help participants understand how images communicate emotion, narrative and subtext. The focus is on how visual language shapes storytelling, regardless of budget or format.
With teaching methodology that includes illustrations with film and documentary examples, frame-by-frame visual analysis, Q&A, and reflective critique sessions, participants have been assured of a stronger visual vocabulary for storytelling, improved confidence in making intentional visual choices, practical tools for designing visually coherent scenes, and enhanced ability to critique and improve their own work.
Speaking on the benefits of the workshop, Femi Odugbemi, said: At the end of the day, the 20 participants will understand visual storytelling as a narrative and emotional tool. Also, they will be able to apply principles of composition to create stronger images, use shot sizes and camera angles to convey meaning and power dynamics, design effective establishing shots and visual continuity, employ imagery for foreshadowing and subtext, control mise-en-scène to support story intention, and use lines, spaces, colour and light to guide audience perception.
In the past five years, the Kingdom Film Festival has fostered a legacy of excellence and consistency. In 2023, it partnered with Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF), and the following year collaborated with Africa Creative Market to host its first-ever Pre-Summit themed: Navigating the Changing Landscape of Film Distribution: The Influence of Christian Films and Emerging Opportunities.
