Nigeria’s born actors, Wunmi Mosaku and Davies brothers, were the cynosure of all eyes at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards held in London on Sunday, February 22.
For her role in Sinners, Wunmi Mosaku received Best Supporting Actress award, adding another significant milestone to her impressive global profile.
Prior to this, Mosaku has earned BAFTA honour when she won the Supporting Actress plaque for Damilola, Our Loved Boy at the 2017 BAFTA Television Awards.
Also on the BAFTA’s roll of honour were Nigerian siblings, Akinola Davies Jr. and Wale Davies, who won Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for their work, My Father’s Shadow.
Set in Lagos during the 1993 election crisis, the film follows a father and his two sons as they move through the city in a tense political moment.
Aside the Nigerian wins, however, One Battle After Another led the night with six awards, including Best Film and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson. Sinners also won Original Screenplay and Original Score, giving the title three wins overall.
