Lagos, the commercial nerve center of Nigeria, has welcomed Stanford Recording Studios, a state-of-the-art recording and production facility.
Established by Austin Ogbuefi and located at Divine Homes Estate, Ajah, Stanford Recording Studios is designed to meet international standards and foster collaborations between African and global talents.
Equipped with high-end and luxurious gadgets, the studio offers a creative space for musicians, producers and artistes. Speaking at the launch on Saturday, October 19, the CEO, Austin Ogbuefi said the studio is committed to bridging the gap between Nigeria and Hollywood, and supporting the growth of the entertainment industry globally.
“This groundbreaking studio is set to elevate the Nigerian entertainment industry, blending cutting-edge technology with artistic innovation, and establishing new standards in creative excellence and fostering international collaborations,” he declared.
Stanford Recording Studios was inspired by Ogbuefi’s Hollywood connection where his friends like TV personality, Eleanor Earl and multi-platinum producer, Larry Razz urged him to develop a studio in Africa.
“I wanted to create something extraordinary – a place where Afrobeats and all genres of music could meet world-class production standards,” he noted.
The facility offers more than just a technical recording environment; it’s a creative space for musicians and producers alike. With high-end equipment sourced directly from Los Angeles, the studio is equipped to handle a range of projects – from music production and film soundtracks to podcasts and voiceovers.
In addition to the professional-grade recording space, the facility features a luxurious lounge area, complete with a Jacuzzi and private bathroom, providing artistes a space to unwind during overnight sessions.
However, Stanford Studios is not just limited to the Nigerian market, it is part of a broader plan to foster international collaborations.
Ogbuefi explained further: “We’re building a bridge between Nigeria and Hollywood, and we’ll be launching an exchange programme that allows artistes from both continents to collaborate. The entertainment industry is becoming increasingly global, and we’re here to facilitate that exchange.”
The studio is already in discussions to expand its operations with a future branch in Atlanta, US.
Sharing his enthusiasm for the future, the studios’ chief sound engineer and producer, Akiyo Gee, stated: “This is a dream for any music or film producer. The equipment here allows for top-tier mixing and mastering, and we’re ready to collaborate with artistes from all over the world.”
At the launch were celebrities like Daniel Etim Effiong, Shawn Faqua, Mimi Orjiekwe, Dr. Eddy Oboh, Felix Ugg Omokhodion and Ijeoma Richards, who all marveled at the studio’s modern design and advanced capabilities.
