As hospitality magnate, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana attains the golden age on April 12, 2025, fast rising artistes, Denzel-Armani and Von Blake will release new singles in his honour.
The new songs, Cubana-Zuorah and Sweet Money, will drop on all music platforms on April 3, 2025. According to Von Blake, the singles were crafted “to mark the 50th birthday of a trailblazer, a captain of entertainment industry, the mobilizer, a supporter of trade and commerce, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana. He embodies a resilient spirit that believes in perseverance, partnership, hard work and prayer as keys to success.”
Obi Cubana started humbly from garden-lounge and grew his business to the Cubana Group: this is captured, amongst many aspects, in one of the songs.
A blend of contemporary Ogene-mix, trap, pop and folk sounds, Cubana-Zuorah is a musical interpretation of the journey of Obinna Iyiegbu’s self-actualization and learning to master his craft, a homage to his resilience and majestic Igbo spirit. The music portrays how the entrepreneur has cemented his status as the vanguard of progress – from strive to grace.
Written by Jide Valentine, SamSam, Archisigner and Duziem Otubelu, Cubana-Zuorah is rhythmic and rich in Oja orchestrations, Ogene beats, highlife guitars, massive drums, bass guitars as well as nostalgic renditions of titles.
The second single, Sweet Money, has been described as a high-octane Amapiano sound, which meets the Afropop rhythms of Denzel-Armani and Von Blake. The music is a tribute to a man who has imparted positively on the lives of many in Igboland, in Nigeria, and within and outside the African continent at large.
Speaking recently via Instagram Live, Obi Cubana says: “Turning 50 isn’t just about me – it’s about celebrating the friendships, partnerships and achievements we’ve built together.”
