The former British/Commonwealth light heavyweight boxing champion, Peter Oboh, has joined several people across the world to say goodbye to the former President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter following his interment at his hometown, Georgia on Friday.
The humanist and peanut farmer, who rose from humble beginning to become the 39th American president, passed away peacefully at his residence in Plains, Georgia on December 29, 2024. He was aged 100.
While bidding Jimmy Carter farewell, the ex-boxing champion described him as a fantastic leader, man of peace and genuine Christian who always put God ahead in everything.
According to the pugilist turned-Apostle, “Mr. Jimmy Carter was a supper man of love and peace. After his death, many all over the world are still talking about his good works. He will always be remembered for his good deeds. I want to use this opportunity to plead with the American government that it’s not wise for Israel to be given another weapons of mass destruction at this time that Gaza is under constant attack.
“By doing so, it’s like giving an angry man a gun to defend himself. He may use it wrongly on the innocent because he’s being moved by emotions, not by wise decisions. I am pleading with the American government to be moved by love, not by emotions. Love is the only key to peace.”
Jimmy Carter’s funeral service took place at the National Cathedral, Washington DC on Thursday and was attended by President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and past presidents like Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barrack Obama, and Donald Trump among other dignitaries.
