Encountering challenges in the entertainment industry is not a new thing. For gospel musician, Tosin Bee, his challenges include lack of adequate finance and not having the right environment for growth.
According to him, although it was not his childhood dream to become a gospel artiste, the gift had been there as an innate ability, he only developed it.
In his words: “As I was growing up, I realized my calling or purpose was to use the singing gift as an instrument of worship, and also for the kingdom agenda of gospel propagation. Definitely, my drive for excellence, most importantly, because our God is a God of excellence, always doing good, so anything I present to him must be good. And talking about challenges, having the right environment for growth in my field was a problem, also financial as well as moving from a familiar terrain (Ilorin) to an unfamiliar terrain (Lagos).”
Tosin Bee described his kind of music as a fusion of Tungba and Alujo (African percussive music popular among the Yoruba), and contemporary gospel.
“I have a strong background in both genres of music, so I merged them and created a style unique to me. I have a number of songs I am dropping soon as part of an EP. I am collaborating with some gospel artistes like Prinx Emmanuel, Mr M and Miracle, Adeyinka Alaseyori, and Neon Adejo. I have done Praise Unlimited Tour 2023. We had a good turnout in every city we went, and the people loved the African music, they really want us back. We are gearing up for Testimony Tour 2024. We’ll be going to the US, UK and Canada,” he said.
